Viogner Rankings
A small but appreciative turnout attended the Viognier tasting led by TVC’s Director/Wine Buyer, Michael Matthews. The reception wine was a 2008 Valdrinal Santa Maria Verdejo ($18.50) from Rueda Spain supplied by Cellar D’Or. To order this wine, go to http://www.cellardor.ca/Our_Wines.html. The lineup of wines clearly demonstrated the versatility of this grape variety. The group’s favourite was a blend of Viognier and Marsanne: 2006 Treana Liberty School Viognier/ Marsanne from California ($31 at Vintages). The mystery wine was an Israeli wine - 2006 Yarden Viognier ($29.95 at Vintages) which ranked 2nd overall!
